Hint

A short inline tip, smaller than a paragraph, typically italic, used to clarify the form's expectation.

A short inline hint, smaller and lighter than a paragraph, typically italic. Use when the form expectation is not obvious from the field labels alone: "Format: DD-MM-YYYY", "We will email you a copy".

For per-field helper text, prefer the field's own description property, it is bound via aria-describedby and read by screen readers.

JavaScript recipes

Update a field's helper text dynamically

// Prefer a field's own description (aria-describedby, read by screen readers)
// over a static hint when the guidance depends on other answers.
f365.events.onChange((e) => {
  if (e.fieldKey !== 'Country') return;
  f365.field('PostalCode').description =
    e.newValue === 'US' ? 'Format: 12345 or 12345-6789' : 'Enter your postal / ZIP code';
});

Surface a transient tip on focus

f365.field('Password').on('focus', () => {
  f365.ui.showToast('Use at least 12 characters with a number and a symbol.', 'info');
});
