Quickstart, your first form in 5 minutes

From zero to a live SharePoint Forms365 form in five minutes. Skip nothing.

This walkthrough takes you from a fresh SharePoint Forms365 install to a working, branded form on a SharePoint list, in roughly five minutes.

Prerequisites

  • A SharePoint Online site collection where you have owner permission (so you can add the SPFx package and toggle list settings).
  • The SharePoint Forms365 SPFx package (.sppkg) installed in your tenant's App Catalog. If you haven't done that, see Installing the SPFx package.
  • A SharePoint list to bind the form to. For this walkthrough we'll use a list called Requests with the following columns: Title, Description (Note), Priority (Choice, Low/Medium/High), DueDate (Date), AssignedTo (Person).

Step 1, Open the designer

  1. Browse to your SharePoint Forms365 dashboard (typically {your - domain}/sites/forms365/ or wherever the sppkg is hosted).
  2. Click + New form.
  3. Pick From an existing SharePoint list.
  4. Choose the Requests list. The designer opens with a starter form already wired to your list's schema, every column appears as a field.

Step 2, Reorder and group the fields

  1. Drag Priority and DueDate onto the same row by dropping the second one next to the first.
  2. Add a Section container above Description: drag the Section from the left palette, then drop Description inside it. Set its label to Details.
  3. Save (top right). Changes auto-save every few seconds, but explicit Save creates a checkpoint.

Step 3, Add a conditional rule

  1. Click AssignedTo to open its property panel.
  2. In the Rules tab, set visibleIf to:
Priority === "High"
  1. Preview the form (top toolbar → ⌨ button). Pick Low or Medium for Priority, the AssignedTo field disappears. Pick High, it reappears.

Step 4, Publish

  1. Click Publish (top right). The form is bound to the list immediately; nothing more to deploy.
  2. Browse to the list in SharePoint and click + New. SharePoint shows your designed form instead of the default.

Step 5, Bonus: brand it

  1. Back in the designer, open the Theme panel (paintbrush icon).
  2. Set the primary colour to your brand orange / blue / whatever.
  3. Save and refresh the list's New form. The accent colours update.

What just happened

You authored a JSON form definition that's stored in your SharePoint site's site assets. The SharePoint Forms365 form customizer (installed earlier via the sppkg) intercepts list-form requests, finds your form definition by list id, and renders it instead of the default. No per-list deployment, no per-form code.
